Mont Saint Michel
I was more excited to visit Mont Saint Michel than any other location outside of Paris. Pulling up to this tidal island was a magical moment.
Hotel Auberge Saint Pierre
When we got off of our bus, we went straight to our hotel. Guides took us to our room at various levels up the mount. We found ourselves hoping that they took us up as many steps as possible. This did not happen often since I may have ignored the Rick Steves packing guidelines. This is not something that I will do next time.
Our room was very high up on the mount with a beautiful view. Chelsea and Joe had the room directly above us seen in the bottom pictures. Randy, Katherine, and Gail who are in the bottow left picture came by to check out the view from our balconies.
From our balcony, which was as big as our room, we had a view of the abbey as well as the town below. There was a bell tower directly across from the balcony (shown in the top left picture). Church bells quietly ringing every hour added to the ambiance of this small island town. This was by far our favorite hotel. Eric and I felt as though we finally got our honeymoon suite!

A City Tour
Before our group dinner, we took a tour of the town. We stopped along the way for a group photo and a bolee toast. Our tour guide, William is on the top left and Rebecca is behind Eric on the right. Rebecca can also be seen opening the Bolee in the second picture. William and Rebecca took us off of the crowded main road and along the outer wall, where we could see the tide coming in.
What started out as a tourist packed Mont St Michel, quickly emptied as the tide came in. I am greatful to Rick Steves that we spent the night here. We were able to explore Mont St Michel without the crowds. The third picture in the slide show is of the crowded main road before things slowed down. The fourth picture shows how different these streets were just a few hours later.
We arrived at a small restaurant where dinner was as always, amazing. We had a five course meal that had me full by course three. I assumed that each of the five courses would be small. Boy was I wrong!

We once again decided that we were far too excited to sleep. We went out to explore a lit up Mont St Michel with Chelsea and Joe. The middle pictures are taken from the front gate. By the time we got down there, the tide had come all of the way up to the gate. It was incredible to see.
Abbey Tour
The next morning we took a tour of the Abbey de Mont Saint Michel. It was very interesting. We had some time to explore before heading to our next destination. We left before the crowds returned to the beautiful tidal island.
