Château de Chambord
My New Home
Chimneys for the 365 Fireplaces
Chambord is massive!
Double Helix Staircase
It is rumored that Leonardo Da Vinci may have had a hand in designing this amazing staircase. The two separate spiral staircases wrap around each other but never meet. Eric and I were not the only visiters going up and down the separate staircases waving to each other through the windows in the center.
This is taken from across the double helix staircase. There are windows like this all the way up.
The many other staircases in Chambord, though not double helix, are as beautiful.
The view from Chambord's many balconies are gorgeous!
A quaint hotel
Our hotel in the Loire Valley was adorable. We had dinner together at a long table in the small restaurant. We shared great wine and delicious food. We also had our wine tasting here. A local wine guide came and taught us about the wine of the region. It was a lot of fun.
Château de Chenonceau
This smaller Château was my favorite. I loved the beautiful gardens and the fairytale look of Chenonceau.
Inside Chenonceau
We were especially intrigued by the kitchen.
Those Dance Lessons Came in Handy!
When we came across the nearly empty ballroom of Chenonceau, we knew that we absolutely HAD to do a little dance. When else will you be able to perform a Cha Cha in a French Château?
Other views of Château de Chenonceau, the tower, and the gardens
We loved that there was a tower house on the grounds of the Château.
Lost?
We came across a small hedge maze which caused Eric to spend 20 minutes acting like a lost fool.
